ArtTalks is a regular feature of the Lakes Region Art Association. They occur the third Monday of the month starting in January with the last ArtTalk occurring in October each year.

Monday, May 18th our New Time - 6:00 PM

Presented by Ian Raymond

Cyanotype Printing

This will be a hands-on workshop where participants will create their own cyanotype prints. Ian will speak briefly about the process and its history, and then demonstrate hand-coating the paper, exposing an image using a "photogram" technique, where botanical items are placed on top of the paper, or using a digital negative created with either an inkjet or laser printer, which is laid upon the paper and then exposed to ultraviolet light. The paper is then "processed" in water baths to reveal the final image.

After the demo, participants will choose the materials they wish to use to create their own cyanotype, following the steps as demonstrated. Materials will be provided, although participants are encouraged to bring in leaves, flowers, or other plant materials from which to make their image.
