Martha B. Swanson-Webber
August 1941 to August 2014
Martha Benson Swanson-Webber was a formally trained artist, professional graphic designer and longtime member of the Lakes Region Art Association. Born in New York City and educated at Miami University, she moved to New Hampshire in 1980 and found a lasting home among the lakes and mountains she loved.
Painting throughout her life, Martha explored landscape subjects in acrylic, pastel and other media. Her works earned numerous awards, including recognition for landscapes such as Meadowlands and Salmon Idaho. Her art appears to have grown from close observation of the natural world, an active outdoor life and the disciplined visual sense developed during her career in graphic design.
She also served her community by helping foreign-exchange students find placements in local schools. Through her paintings, her volunteer work and her long association with fellow Lakes Region artists, Martha left a quiet but enduring contribution to the cultural life of central New Hampshire.
A life in art continues through the artists, exhibitions, and
educational programs of the
Lakes Region Art Association.
